It was a joy to shoot at Larmer Tree Gardens again, it is the most perfect backdrop for a wedding. Beautiful lush green lawns, lots of pathways through ancient trees and laurel hedges, wonderful ornate buildings and to top it off the beautiful Garden Stage.
Ryan and Chris started their day in the medieval King John’s House, a stone’s throw from the gardens and part of the Larmer Tree Estate. The Tudor panelling really offset the drama of Chris’s wedding dress and bold, striking colour scheme.
Ryan had not one, but three best men and they decided to take advantage of the beautiful walk from the house to the Gardens, across the fields. It’s only a mile away and a great way to calm any wedding nerves! They carried their weddings shoes with them and the contrast of their smart suits and high street carrier bags made me smile.
There were even more reasons to smile when one of the peacocks tried to upstage Chris when she arrived with her Dad, by attempting to block the aisle to the Roman Temple where Chris and Ryan made their vows. He totally stole the show for a moment. I love the photo where all the guests are watching him instead of Chris and her Dad as they walk down the aisle. They do say never work with animals and children!
Games on the Main lawn kept everyone entertained before the Wedding Breakfast in the New Pavilion, there was music on the Garden Stage from the Isle of Wight’s number one band Lucid and delicious canapés and bubbles to whet everyone’s appetites for the Hog Roast.
The wedding cake was amazing and complimented the groom’s and best men’s ties as well as the colour of Chris’s beautiful dress. It was inspired by Terry Pratchett’s Book Great A’ Tuin and sported the turtle of the same name, elephants and the Discworld. It was so original – just like this couple’s theme.
Chris and Ryan love dancing Salsa and Ceroc and are both very good at it I must add. The evening ended with very impressive dancing in the Old Pavilion and toasted marshmallows around the fire pits… perfect.
